Under the Patriot's Hood
There is a 2.0-liter engine on the Patriot that can use a continuously variable transaxle II (CVT2) with Auto Stick (2WD only) transmission-- or, it's going to have a five-speed manual (2WD only) transmission. The Patriot has 2 potential engine options and 5 separate transmission options! The Patriot's 2.0L DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with dual VVT gets 158 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. The 2.4-liter, depending on model and 2- or 4-wheel drive versions, can be mixed with a 5-speed automatic, a 6-speed automatic with Auto Stick, or the continuously variable transaxle II low (CVT2L) transmission. The Freedom Drive I is an always-engaged helper (for adverse road conditions), and the Freedom Drive II is intended for triumph in off-road scenarios. A 2.4L DOHC 16-valve dual VVT four-cylinder engine is an option for the 2017 Jeep Patriot with its 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. The larger engine can be added onto with two unique all-wheel drive systems (as options) with the Freedom Drive I and/or the Freedom Drive II. The Trailer Tow Prep Group can be put with the Patriot too, which rounds things out with hill-start assist and hill-descent control. Front-wheel drive is available on either engine, but then that also outlines the possible transmission configurations. When the Jeep Patriot is properly outfitted, it can tow 2,000-lbs.
